Bayreuth – Fraunhofer Project Group Ceramic Composite
The Fraunhofer Center for High-Temperatur Materials and Design, which is affiliated to the institute, was founded in January 2012 as a strategic organisation between the Fraunhofer ISC and the Fraunhofer Project Group Ceramic Composites.
The work of this center focuses on the development and production-oriented design of ceramic high-temperature lightweight materials of the kind employed not only in the aerospace industry, but also to an increasing extent in power and propulsion engineering and in mass markets such as automotive engineering. The Center for High-Temeratur Materials and Design - in Bayreuth and Wurzburg - is currently setting up a self-contained process chain for the development, manufacture and testing of ceramic matrix composites (CMC).
