Würzburg – NeunerplatzThe Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC
The institute’s main office is located at Neunerplatz 2 in Würzburg. Extensive pilot plant facilities for polymer synthesis, for spinning high-temperature stable ceramic fibers and for processing ORMOCER®®s are maintained at this location. The activities carried out in the laboratories, which have state-of-the-art equipment, include developing new materials for microsystems engineering and special types of glass for industrial applications, and optimizing the high-temperature debindering and sintering processes applied in the production of glass and ceramics. Attached to this facility is the nanoanalysis laboratory, where the properties of new materials are examined down to the nanometer scale and adapted to the respective requirements. The main site is currently being extended to enable the institute to investigate further innovative research areas relating to the frontline themes of energy, environment and health: By 2011, a new pilot plant with further state-of-the-art laboratories will be completed at the Neunerplatz site.
You can get in touch with all contact persons at the institute via the main office address.
